ECAS vacuum controller
Pack-Vac® Electronic Controller with Altitude Simulation
For Leak Detection
The electronic controller is designed to streamline leak detection procedures on the production line and perform critical package integrity testing in the laboratory. The versatile features of the controller, from altitude simulation to a water level indicator, add extremely beneficial functions to the basic Pack-Vac® Leak Detector.
Quick Ramp Altitude Simulation
With the Quick Ramp Altitude Simulation, you can quickly determine how the package survives on a trip in an airplane or over the mountains. Simply program in the altitude, ramp up time, dwell time, and release time, then start the test. The Pack-Vac® will run itself through your programmed instructions. At the end, you can see if your packaging retains the integrity you expect. Use the Pack-Vac® dry and place an entire case in to see if the restriction of the case together with the expansion of other packages inside the case creates leaks.
Multiple-Step Altitude Simulation
Similar to the Single-Step program above, the Multiple-Step program allows you to program various altitudes during one test. It may be feasible to have seal-creep at lower altitudes, but an increase to a higher altitude will burst the package. This program allows multiple elevations during a program.
The Pack-Vac® Leak Detectors can be used to perform a variety of ASTM test methods for detecting leaks and seal integrity.
- Determination of Leaks in Flexible Packaging by Bubble Emission | ASTM D3078 Standard Test Method
- Determining the Effects of High Altitude on Packaging Systems by Vacuum Method | ASTM D6653 Standard Test Methods
- Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems | ASTM D4169 Standard Practice
Table Program
The Table Program is designed for use on the production line. This tool is best used when leak testing packages of different sizes or volumes. Packages of different sizes or volumes require different vacuum levels. Customers sometime report that leaks were not detected. This outcome is usually the result of incorrect vacuum levels. On a standard Pack-Vac®, the vacuum level needs to be adjusted each time a different product size is tested. When users don’t adjust the vacuum level correctly, leaks are not detected. The Table Program allows users to select the appropriate vacuum level with just the touch of a button. A programmable timer assures that the package gets the full inspection.
